Before you start

  • The assessment has six parts, each separately timed. Once you start a part, its clock runs until it ends — it does not pause, even if you close this tab. When a part's time is up, it locks with whatever you've written.
  • Note that if you finish a section with time to spare, you should not necessarily be concerned, or feel the need to keep writing. In the real world, your written work would be being read by people you report to, and their time is valuable — don't waste it unnecessarily. Note also that on some sections, you may not have enough time to do every part of the task well. That's okay — part of what we're testing is how good you are at prioritizing the most important aspects of a task.
  • Part 5 is a short attention-to-detail check with exact-answer questions. The assistant is switched off for that part — it's done entirely on your own, and it is auto-scored.
  • Breaks between parts are untimed. Finish a part, stand up, come back when you're ready, and start the next one.
  • Your work saves automatically to our server every few seconds. You can refresh or switch devices; your code brings you back to exactly where you were.
  • When you finish Part 5, your answers and assistant transcripts go to the review team automatically — nothing to download or email.
Use the provided assistant — and only the provided assistant. The middle panel connects you to Claude. Use it however you like: ask about the scenario, brainstorm, pressure-test a draft. Note that we have intentionally given you access to Sonnet 4.6, which is far from the smartest model on the market. That means that you should not assume the AI is smarter than you, and should use it carefully. The full transcript is recorded and read by the review panel alongside your answers — how you use the assistant is part of what we're evaluating, since we expect employees will use LLMs in their job (we certainly do!). Note that AI tools other than the assistant are not permitted.
Internet research is allowed; copying and pasting are not. Look things up in other tabs freely. But nothing can be copied out of this page — including the assistant's replies — and nothing can be pasted in. All answers must be typed, in your own words. Paste attempts and tab switches are recorded with your submission. Attempts to screenshot the page will be recorded with your submission as well, will be assumed as evidence of cheating, and will disqualify applicants. Lastly, final submissions are run through Pangram, an AI detection software that is quite good, and if it flags your responses as AI generated, you'll be disqualified as well. Basically — don't cheat. We will catch you, and you won't get a second chance at interviewing for the role.

Set aside the time, silence notifications, and have a glass of water nearby. Imperfect, finished work beats polished, incomplete work.

All five parts are locked. Your answers and assistant transcripts have been compiled for the review team — there is nothing more you need to do. Thank you; we read every submission closely.
